Hi, my name is Jennifer Chu and I am physical therapist and Mind-Body Health Coach. 

I have spent the last two decades working as a physical therapist searching for and learning more holistic ways to help my patients heal. Through traditional physical therapy, manually based osteopathic therapies, to functional nutrition.  

As is often the case, it wasn't until I went through my own health crisis that I began to understand the importance of mind-body work.

Most of my life I lived with, what felt like, the mercy of my life circumstances. I was anxious, stressed, emotionally reactive, fatigued, and had severe insomnia.  I went through years of getting sick all the time and I had a myriad of digestive issues including constipation, bloating and distension.

Eventually, after the birth of my second daughter, who was born at 32.5 weeks via a traumatic and very scary C-section, that I got even more sick. Up until this point I could function in my daily life.

However, I developed a large post-surgical abdominal infection. Unfortunately, the infection was not found until weeks after my delivery. 

After being hospitalized and away from my tiny 4 pound baby and my toddler for a week, I went home with a PIC line in my arm (where I self administered IV antibiotics) and a drain in my abdomen (to drain the pus) for over a month.  

I continued on oral antibiotics for yet another month. After so many strong antibiotics for so long, I remained ill for a number of years.

I pursued many paths to healing including all of the very modalities I used with patients as well as naturopathic medicine, homeopathy, meditation, yoga, and functional nutrition. After a few years, although I made progress, I came to realization that that I needed something more.

Eventually I found a mind-body based therapist. Working with this talented and skilled therapist, I learned that I had been disassociated (not aware of the physical and emotional sensations) from my body. It took my a number of years, but I  began to release some of the trauma and difficult emotions my body had been holding onto. 

It was during this journey that I became aware of the Polyvagal Theory and tools that can be used to calm my autonomic nervous system.  Once I began using these tools to pull me out of the fight-or-flight state I had been stuck in for so long, I was finally able to begin to live in my body and feel safety. 

I now also use these tools every day with my little girls as they navigate through these challenging and uncertain times.

This new paradigm of becoming aware of the messages my body were sending me, becoming aligned in my mind-body work, and calming my nervous system were what I needed to heal on a deeper level.  This was what I had been searching for, unknowingly, for my whole life. 

I now live a life full of truth, purpose, and meaning. Not only do I feel connected to my heart for the first time, but I actually feel safe in my body.  I had no idea life could feel like this!!  

Now that I know how life altering the combination of mind-body work while calming the autonomic nervous system is and how pivotal it is for deep whole healing, I know it is my mission in life to bring this to as many people as possible.
